​Purpose of the Grant: 
​These grants are for official NSNA school chapters (established for a minimum of one (1) year) that seek to foster the development of leadership skills in nursing students.

Overview: 
One grant of up to $2,500 will be awarded to two (2) official NSNA school chapters that wish to enhance involvement in NSNA to develop leadership skills among nursing students at the school level.  Funds will only be provided for special projects that support:
  • Special initiatives/activities of an official NSNA chapter (minimum of one (1) year) where leadership principles can be applied and learned and that promote the advancement of NSNA resolutions adopted in the House of Delegates within the last five years (visit http://nsnaconvention.weebly.com/resolutions.html for more information on past resolutions), or
  • Participation in Leadership University Honor Society (visit https://www.nsnaleadershipu.org for more information)

The recipient schools will be recognized at the NSNA Annual Convention during the Opening Ceremony.  NSNA’s 74th Annual Convention takes place in Houston, TX. The Opening Ceremony takes place on Wednesday evening, April 8, 2026.

A faculty advisor from the nursing program must apply for the grant.  Individual students are not eligible to apply.  Schools can apply for both grants.  However, only one grant will be awarded to one school.  The recipient school of the Littmann® Stethoscope Leadership Development Grant will also receive a limited supply of stethoscopes in addition to the grant funding from Solventum, formerly 3M Health Care. 

​Guidelines for Grant Request
  1. Funds must be used by May 31st of the awarding academic year.
  2. Grant Awards will be made in the name of the school of nursing and not an individual.  Only one grant up to $2,500 will be awarded to one recipient school for each grant program.  A school chapter may apply for both grants.  However, chapters that apply for both programs can only receive one grant of up to $2,500.
  3. An interim report on the successes of the project thus far is due at the midpoint of the academic year.
  4. A final report on the outcome of the grant must be issued to the FNSNA one month after the project end date.  The final report must be written in the form of an article to be published in the September/October issue of Imprint.
  5. Funds may not be used to fund faculty or students to attend state and national NSNA meetings or conventions.

Applications Instructions
  • Statement of Assessment:  Describe the current status of the official NSNA chapter at your school.  Be sure to include the number of NSNA members in the chapter, if there are any Project In Touch Recruiters at the school, and a description of the leadership activities that have taken place at the school thus far.  This document must be uploaded to the online application.
  • Purpose of the Grant: Provide a description of how the grant funds will be used to enhance involvement of nursing students in NSNA and build leadership capacity. This document must be uploaded to the online application.   In your description, please address the following:
    • Identify the project/activity that will enhance involvement of nursing students in NSNA and in the community.  The project must support a resolution adopted by the NSNA House of Delegates within the last five (5) years. To view NSNA resolutions click here.  Please be sure to include the title and year  of the resolution within your project description.
    • Identify at least two goals of NSNA chapter enhancement or leadership development.
    • Describe at least three measurable strategies that you will use to achieve these goals.
    • Provide a budget and budget narrative of how funding will be allocated for the proposed project.  Also include a timetable and specific methods to evaluate goal accomplishment.
    • Describe how you will apply leadership principles learned. ​
